A WORD FROM THE EDITOR. I’m delighted to join the editorial team for issue 3 of the New Isles Press Anthology by Yellow House Publishing and I plan to help make it the best yet.

Our featured novelist and short story author is Billy O'Callaghan and the theme is Barriers, Boundaries and Borders. You’re free to interpret it as you will, though there are always those political overtones here in Northern Ireland as soon as the word ‘border’ is mentioned. I love short stories and poetry equally and the unique thing about New Isles anthologies is the fact that they include new writing in English, Ulster-Scots and Irish. It’s a love of languages and a love of language that reflect these anthologies. I have no preconceptions about submissions, though I always look for originality of voice and thought. I never know, however, what will float my boat.

Issue 3 New Isles Press: Barriers, Boundaries and Borders will be launched by the Thomas Carnduff Appreciation Society on the opening night of EastSide Arts Festival on 25th July at Templemore Baths, Belfast. Three writers from the anthology will be selected for the Shipyard Poetry Competition – the winners will be announced on the launch night. Submissions for issue 3 open 1st May and closes on 1st July. Go for it and good luck!
