Yellow House Publishing are honoured to have worked with Stephen Knox on publishing his debut collection of poetry Sensing Wonder. Stephen's writing reflects his Christian faith, his interest in the place he lives, his deep appreciation of nature and fascination with ordinary, everyday occurrences. His love for Cregagh Glen and his immediate environs resonates in several of his poems. As well as being influenced by the Romantics, Stephen enjoys reading contemporary poets, favourites being Malcolm Guite, Wendell Berry, Billy Collins and the highly entertaining ‘Banksy’ of internet poetry, Brian Bilston. Many of Stephen’s poems appear on the Positive Belfast YouTube channel. He has had poems featured on BBC Radio Ulster and has been published by New Isles Press Yellow House Publishing and online by Rancid Idols Productions. Stephen is an advocate of the C. S. Lewis dictum that: ‘Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work. "Having the pleasure over many months to listen to Stephen read at our poetry nights, I am always struck by his genteel delivery, his playful use of rhyme, and how his faith permeates throughout his every action. Perhaps part of being close to nature is to also feel close to God, as these poems affirm. Read them with joy, and afterwards, take yourself outside for a walk – canine companion optional." Followed the setting up of Thomas Carnduff Appreciation Society (Shipyard poet) Yard Sessions open mic was established in 2019, providing a free poetry platform in Inner East Belfast for all. After a two year break because of lockdown rules Yard Sessions are now getting back up and running with the support of EastSide Visitor Centre. Over the two year gap much work has been achieved by individual volunteers. Yellow House Publishing Ltd along with Turas Gaelic language Centre East Belfast are working together on a new poetry and short story journal Spring 2023 with a section dedicated to our shared Gaelic language heritage across these Isles. Yard Sessions is a key hub in the work of the new journal and in supporting new and established writers not only in East Belfast but across our diverse communities. All are welcome to attend Yard Sessions first open mic session
